Bio
Lulu Wang is a London-based Chinese interdisciplinary artist. She draws inspiration from her heritage and digital subcultures to explore hybrid identities and connections across humanity and social relationships. Through sculpture making, installation, and immersive choreography, her practice revolves around visual work in collaboration with new technologies, fashion, and experimental music.
Inspired by her interests in post-humanism narratives and digital subculture, Wang's practice is a conversion of hybrid bodies and visual elements by incorporating new technologies with life bodies. Using hybrid visual language to provide a psychedelic perspective of the human experience thereby revealing the fullness of its possibilities.
Wang’s work has been presented internationally at institutions and venues such as Christie’s, The Place theatre, Tate Modern, Southbank Centre, Gazelli Art House, Shoreditch Arts Club, Reference Point at 180 Strand, Cromwell Place in London; UK Pavilion Expo 2020 in Dubai; and DOOR Foundation in Amsterdam plus many more. Her project was awarded the ‘Development Your Creative Practice’ by the Arts Council England in 2023.
Wang accomplished her Master’s degree in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art in 2021. She is the alumni artist at Sarabande Foundation by Lee Alexander McQueen. Wang is also the co-founder of Diasporas Now, an expanded performance platform that champions the global majority. Wang is currently doing her artist residency with Diasporas Now at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), and invited to co-programe “Speaking Futures with Diasporas Now”, a flagship public programme at the ICA between 2025-2026.
