Lulu X
Wearable motion-sonic sensor Installations and Performance
Lulu X is an interactive performance project that emerged from my first interactive sensor-based performance project, Prototype, commissioned by Whitechapel Gallery, Bow Arts, East London Art Prize, and Arts Council England in 2023. This imagined figure is conceived as an anthropomorphic vessel — an entity that embodies the connection between humanity and futuristic fantasies through an entanglement of sound, movement, and visual art.
The performance brought together choreography and new technologies through a custom-built motion sensor system and sound coding. As the performers moved, the sensors generated an evolving soundscape, allowing audiences to experience music composed directly through the body’s gestures and perceptions. The live sonic environment became both a stage and a narrative: a melody shaped by Lulu X that unfolded as a journey of self-discovery, transformation, and the search for identity through choreography, experimental sound and immersive technologies.
